So sorry about the delay on this one... I'm internetless and TVless this month, so I'm having to watch all the episodes of my shows online in fits and spurts as I steal internet from other people in the building at off-hours. (But seriously, RCN, you think I'm going to pay over $250 just to have you hook up the services for 4 weeks? Are you kidding me?) Anyway, I know a lot of this has been said before, but I'm trying to post this before my wireless cuts out on me again... this is officially my third attempt.

Slow start to the episode. And the Tracy-strip was completely gratuitous. I understand she's still a character on this show precisely because she's an acceptable age to be stripping down for the male viewers (can't have a 17 year old cheerleader doing that just yet), but come on. That was really just kind of silly. But it was nice how quickly it picked up once the commandos burst in to grab Tracy, and I can't tell you how happy I am that she's one of the first to be captured. Ali Larter works best when she's doing the Weepy Blonde Moment of the Week, angsty and bullied. She's not as much fun to watch when she's just being a smug corporate hottie.
Nice reveal of the chapter title. I like that they included the Hiro theme music behind it, too. Good way to start the next volume. And I love that Hiro decided to buy an old firehouse to use as their "lair"! Very Ghostbusters; I like it. Powerless Hiro is hysterical--I can't believe he shot Ando with a GPS tracker! This is the kind of antics I love from these two. (Cute leather jacket on Ando, with the red lightning bolt across the back.) What I don't understand is the fact that it's day when they enter the firehouse and night when Ando leaves... Was there a time lapse I was unaware of? And Ando is still an obnoxious friend, "Get yourself a different superhero!" ...but he's more than happy to take the jacket and motorcycle as he leaves his friend in the dust.
*sigh* Hayden is still sporting the wig (please have Claire cut her hair to match!), and now she's in bright pink lipstick. Really? This girl is gorgeous; stop making bad hair-and-makeup decisions for her! I'm getting supersick of Claire these days. She's just such a brat.
Very funny: the lyrics of the old song playing as Sylar picks up the watch off the counter. "In my heart, I have but one desire..." Eeek! I'm ecstatic he's not dead, though. Wouldn't be Heroes without you, Gabe. So now that he knows his deserting father is his real one, he's gone to collect some information from him? Nice. Although I take a little offense to him stating that there are lessons--like how to make tough decisions in life--that only a man can teach his son. Sure, his mother was a bit of a fruit loop, but her failings were not due to her gender. ...and we're still trying to guess who Sylar's dad is! New character, or established?
Still don't believe Matt and Daphne... They just look so awkward as a couple. And that was such terrible blocking when she turned away from him and he hugged her from behind, just before he saw Usutu. Awkward, awkward, awkward... And was the editing bad on purpose when Usutu told Matt he was supposed to be a prophet? Because his stick was up, then down, then Matt was here, then there... And don't get me started on the malleable nature of Matt's power. He seems to be able to do whatever the writers need that week...
I loved HRG's come-with-me-if-you-want-to-live Terminator moment with Mohinder in the parking garage. But I don't get it--he's working with Nathan to round up people with abilities? I know he has "Bag and Tagger" on his resume, but in the 1x20 future he was helping people with abilities to escape persecution. Has he really changed so much? Please explain this character's current motivation, writers. He was such a robot this week.
Hysterical! Sylar's real dad is a taxidermist. Dealing with preserving death every day. Or was the watchmaker really Sylar's dad, and he sent him to the taxidermist's place because he'd been contacted by the government to help them capture his son? Sylar would have been able to tell if he were lying... Unless Martin Gray's power somehow combats Sylar's truth-barometer. If Martin even has a power... So many questions! And what a nice little battle we got when they tried to grab Sylar... He's definitely going to have to strike a tenuous truce with Peter in order to fight Nathan and the government.
Interesting little group of X-Men they've set up to crash land someplace. Though I don't understand why Peter needs to touch people to absorb their powers now... And I loved the obvious-though-silenced girly scream of terror from Hiro as the plane was going down.
Bits and Pieces:
* Zeljko Ivanek plays The Hunter, the head "special person collector." He's fabulous, having been on Lost, House, Numb3rs, Bones, CSI, The West Wing, 24, The X-Files, and in a whole bunch of movies as well.
* So nice to see Peter working as a paramedic. That's the perfect job for him.
* What's wrong with Mohinder's voice? Did anyone else think he sounded really bizarre in the cab?
* "What advice could I possibly give you other than 'kiss my ass, Nathan'?" Nice, Peter. I love when these two have scenes together. Always a good time. Though I can't believe how stupid Peter was to let his brother hug him. I'd have said, "Sure... a hug," and then broken his nose and walked out the door.
* I do not understand Nathan's motivation these days. I don't get his switch. I don't mind him being a villain, just please explain it.
Will try to comment on time next week!
