I'm sure it'll be more than a what-if episode, since it's part 1 of 2. I'm hoping they do something drastic (not necessarily kill off Claire, which is what the trailer apparently wants us to believe will happen), and change the course of things.
I've got my fingers crossed that this gold-kryptonite-eclipse will give us some awesome confrontations between people. I'm most excited to see Arthur, Sylar, and Claire without their powers. I want to see if Sylar is happier and more relaxed, if Arthur's got as much self-confidence and attitude, and if Claire starts feeling more normally-emotional again. She's been getting more and more removed and robotic this season, and her attempts to bring in fugitives and step in front of trains seem more like desperate attempts at an adrenaline high, and not anything benevolent. I think she's losing some personal humanity along with her ability to feel pain.
Also, will the eclipse affect those heroes who were given abilities artificially? Nathan, Tracy, and Mohinder? Will Mohinder's deformity subside? Or is he stuck in his mistake of hubris forever?

I thought this episode was one of the weaker showings this season, especially after the past few have been very good. The whole feel of the episode didn't seem right to me. The pacing was slow. At the end, I thought "that's it?", in a bad way. Some quick thoughts: * Hiro had some funny comedic spots! * Daphne and Matt's relationship still seems forced. Wonder what happened to Daphne, was she injected with powers? * Peter and Nathan's argument was a little out of place. * HRG training Claire also seemed a little weird, and why in vortex man's house? * I wonder if HRG will shoot Elle. But her and Sylar haven't made little Noah yet! * Mohinder's gonna die?! * The whole Heroes vs Villains set up wasn't even built up this episode. I was hoping for a strong part 1 episode which concluded with a faceoff in part 2. Still excited for next week. Hoping for a strong conclusion to the "Villians" volume. Heroes needs it!

I agree with ya there TrU.... Why at the vortex house? And how bout Sylar knowing how to fight??? That fool only knew how to fix watches b4 he got his abilities. And how bout Elle doing a 360 from bad to good then to bad...sounds like my ex wife..lol And now they have to worry about the Hatians bro (if their abilities return)....he sounds like a beast....impenetrable skin..hmmm.. And then Daphne cruisin on crutches...that surprised the hell outta me. Hiro should stay thinking hes 10 years old for a while...he's funny again...lol Yeah I thought the whole good vs. bad was gonna be played out more but I guess we have to wait.... By the looks of part 2 preview Claire is gonna be going through some hell... till next time....

What a perfect episode! I loved it! Action, characterization, plot advancement, humor, and a very cool symmetry woven through the whole thing.
The symmetry between Elle and Sylar is phenomenal. Elle spent years being a company girl, only to have her father murdered, after trying to impress him and win some real affection from him at every turn. Now that Sylar's found his father, he's trying to do the exact same thing.
Loved the take off of Nathan and Peter. And loved the splashdown later. They do make pretty great brothers. Their fight in the jungle was fantastic. My compliments to the writers, because a good deal of why that was an awesome scene should be attributed to what the actors were given to work with.
Interesting how up until now Mohinder's scaly transformation completely avoided his gorgeous face. ;-) This is a Hollywood kind of disease mutation, keeping you pretty where people see you most for as long as possible. Oh, and apparently, the mutation also completely strips you of what acting ability you previously had. Because his "Why don't you have the catalyst! You said you were going to cure me!" was pretty awful.
The eclipse is such a wonderful visual! I always thought they didn't do enough with it when the series started. This is a really beautiful episode, shot in that daylight darkness, with an almost blue hue over everything. Very pretty.
"Aren't you dead?" Hiro's scene with Matt, Daphne, and Ando was adorable, with Hiro thinking in Japanese (as HRG did the last time Claire got shot) and his synchronization with Turtle's head bobbing. I also liked the look Matt and Daphne gave the door when Ando knocked. Very cute. However, I'd also like to renew my complaint that I don't believe Matt and Daphne's realtionship at all, not at this point in the game. And if Matt is going to continue this relationship with her, he's going to need a good chiropractor. He has to bend at the waist to look her in the eye, and she's in four inch heels!
I'm pretty confused by Elle's motivation now... First she saves Gabriel's life and wants to keep him sweet, then she tries to kill him--twice--gets gooey over him, and now is back to being a take-what-I-want brat, trying to make Sylar into a killer again? ...wha?
Seth Green and Breckin Meyer were perfect. Loved their faces when they saw Hiro and Ando in their comic book store in Lawrence, Kansas, and their short guest appearances were absolutely lovely! I'm looking forward to the part they have to play in the conclusion of this delicious two-parter. I love these two actors.
A very long time ago, when I first started writing these episode reviews, I wrote that I try to be professional with my reviews and not just sit and drool over the pretty actors I see on screen. There's more to an episode than just the boys. I also mentioned that the one actor on this show who makes me want to break the rules and go gaga during my reviews is Zachary Quinto. I state again for the record that I think he's beautiful, the kiss with Elle was (sorry, fangurl moment approaching) HOT, and now I'm going to go back to being mature about things. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
Oh, poor Daphne. What does she have? Cerebral palsy? CMT? MS? ALS? Spastic paraplegia? No wonder she was freaked out by Arthur's threat to take her power away. She doesn't go back to being normal, she goes back to a perceived confinement... After gaining speed, I'm sure this must feel like she's chained in a single spot. I actually love the fact that Matt thought he'd fallen in love with the Hare, but he'd actually fallen for the Tortoise. Cute.
Bits and Pieces:
* Claire's wig continues to bother me. Please let her have the same haircut as Hayden does now! * I love Angela's admission to thinking of locking Claire up. * Fabulous line: "My absence does not give you license to act like a brat!" * Eww... Mohinder cocoons himself? ...And then comes out normal? That was very Ace-Ventura-coming-out-of-the-rhino. Still, I don't understand why the eclipse affected synthetic powers. * Everyone was interesting as they realized their powers were gone. The look on their face every time was fantastic. Especially Matt, but I also loved Sylar's confusion after his little finger twitch. * "This is part of the Hero's Quest! Can you triumph without powers? The corn will keep on coming!" Funny, funny, funny, fabulous episode. How I adore thee! * Oh, Nathan, your French... c'est terrible. But I'm excited for Peter and the Haitian's new task: rescue Peter's brother, and stop the Haitian's. Again, a very symmetrical episode.
Okay, off to work, GG

I can't until next week because it looks like, to me, that it is in Haiti that Peter will get his scar I don't think he will get his scar at all, that future has long been changed. HRG should pay arthur a visit with his sniper rifle gnagna . Cant wait for part 2 of the eclips.
