OMG! Shocked I just saw this episode  ! The Puppet Man is awesome, so intense. I hope Sandra doesn't get shot; she's my favourite out of the normal people. And Claire to do it! Shocked

How did you see an episode that's released next Monday, you time traveler you!?

And that puppet man's actor sure has a scary name: David H. Lawrence XVII.  How does anyone have a family history of 17 generations with the same name?  That's like 400 years!

Meant the Episode Preview/Trailer thing. Wow, I must have looked like a right fool. There's something seriously wrong with my English today. I almost wrote full instead of fool.

holy crap, that takes the cake! imagine all the pressure of being a dad and trying to have a boy just to name him david...

unless, of course, people are allowed to just jump a few numbers and name their kids anything they want.  hmmmm....xcessev the 81st it is!!

Here's my review. Hope ya like it!!!!!

Heroes continued Monday, October 20th with the newest episode of Season 3, The Dying of the Light. Many fans would be surprised at all of the shocking revelations included in the episode, such as Arthur Petrelli's abilities or Ando's miraculous "resurecction". There was something for every fan!
During the first few minutes of the episode, we see the demise of a character who many loved to hate. Adam Munroe will no longer be a nuisance. While the Speedster, Daphne, was busy with company quests, she ran into the telepath, Matt Parkman, who revealed some shocking things to her. Hiro, along with non-deceased pal, Ando went to Africa looking for the precognitive Usutsu with hilarious yet character specific results.
The excitement continued when Nathan and Tracy went to see Mohinder and his cocooned Maya. Nathan and Tracy seemed to have become Mohinder's next victims of his strange new power.
Sylar tried to free his brother, Peter, to save the two's mother, Angela, but was attacked out of anger by him. Peter, now freed of his drug-induced coma, went to Pinehurst to uncover the truth. He met an unexpected person, his father Arthur. In the climax of the episode, we get to return to the creepy Eric Doyle's place to watch him control Meredith some more, until Claire and Sandra arrive and wind up having to pplay a dangerous game for thier lives. While a bit predictable, the scene ended with a bang as Claire was shot by Sandra to end the bedlam.
Ending with a shoker has always been Heroes' thing and it continued with The Dying of the Light. Tracy and Nathan began to battle Suresh as Peter's powers were totally stolen by his father, Arthur. My review for this episode would be a nine out of ten. We got to see some very exciting Peter/SYlar battle scenes, and several other good bits. I highly recommend that you don't miss this one because if you do you might just wind up on Suresh's wall....

The episode's most memorable quote: Hiro out loud to Usutsu: "Mista African Isaak!?!"

So much better than last week's effort! This episode rocked. Just the right pace, just the right direction, and a whopper of a surprise ending. Very nice, guys. Well done this week.

They brought Adam back just long enough to kill him? No! I like David! Keep him around! Although the Adam/Arthur reunion scene was all kinds of awesome, with a very Whedon-esque death for poor Adam, and the coolest special effect of the whole show as Arthur sits up and pulls the tracheotomy tube from his neck. But how did Angela see Adam in the Level 5 slaughter in the future if he's been dusted? What does this make Arthur's power? Does he absorb people's lives? Or life force? He didn't kill Peter in the end, so maybe he can elect how much to drain from a person: just skim abilities off the top, or hold on longer and suck their body completely dry of everything. Does this mean Arthur is Sylar's dad, too (since their powers are somewhat similar), and Peter, Nathan, and Sylar are all full brothers, not half as some suspect? There's no extra Angela Baby Daddy?

"High five, turtle." I adore Greg Grunberg! Matt's arrival at the airport--turtle in tow--was fabulous. "This is getting kind of stalky, so..." They were... hmm. I'm glad the road to romance doesn't look like an easy one for them. This initial groundwork was well done, and it whet my appetite for more of them... I'm okay with this so far.

"Hello? Mr. African Isaac?" Loved the shovel attacks, as well as Hiro's slight recognition of Matt in Usutu's painting followed by Ando's dismissive "They all look alike to me," and Hiro's "That's racist." :-) Glad we're getting more time with Usutu. I'd have been disappointed if they'd just used him as a tool for the first two episodes.

Jessalyn must have been getting so tired holding her arms in dance position during those long scenes. I hope they had her on wires or something. And I was simultaneously impressed and disappointed by the puppet man scene. Once his game was put in motion it was pretty obvious to see where this was going--someone shoots Claire with the roulette bullet, she heals, everyone goes home happy. Still, all three women and Mr. Puppet turned in fabulous performances. Weepy Blonde Moment of the Week goes to Hayden for this scene. Good job, sweetie.

Peter and Sylar's escape from Level 5 was awesome, though I was really bugged by Peter's anger at Sylar for saddling him with his burdensome ability. Peter, you asked for it, you begged him for it, you idiot! But I really enjoyed how Sylar approached Peter to talk to him, and Milo's bolting from the table as he realized who was looming over him was fabulous. Another thing I don't understand about their little jailbreak, though, is if Sylar wanted so badly to check on Coma!Angela, why didn't he just touch her and find out everywhere she's been? He was given that ability post-virus, he should still have it.

The fight scene between Sylar and Peter was eight different levels of amazing. I loved it. I've been really enjoying the gentle transition of Sylar into Peter and Peter into Sylar over the last few episodes, with Sylar insisting this week that he could learn to suppress his urge to kill and knowing that he accomplishes it in the future gives him hope. Meanwhile we have Peter claiming to be "the most special": a phrase we've heard several times from Sylar in the past (and, technically, in the future when Nathan!Sylar is speaking to Claire in 1x20). I also liked how many powers Peter exhibited this week, considering he lost them all in the final moments. What all did we get to see him do? Blue flames, electricity, telekinesis, invisibility, teleportation, mind reading, healing, flight... did I miss any?

So, after my big spiel about what last week's title referred to, I'm wondering what "Dying of the Light" means, too. Anyone got ideas? I did a quick search about the title and found it's a line from a Dylan Thomas poem: "Do not go gentle into that good night/Rage, rage against the dying of the light," as well as the title of a 1977 science fiction novel about a rogue planet drifting too far away from the sun "into a region of cold and dark where no life will survive." I like both of these references. The poetic reference makes me think of Sylar battling against his inner demons, as well as Arthur refusing to die and taking extreme measures to keep his grip on this life at all costs. The novel reference leans more toward the characters themselves, drifting further from Good into a cold place where everyone is a monster and a shell of their old selves, soulless and greedy. Fabulous use of a title, guys.

Can't wait til next week!

Bits and Pieces:

    * Mohinder is voicing the opening monologue again! I wonder why last week was Nathan?
    * Thank you for explaining the Ando death! I wouldn't have stood for it if we'd had to wait for more than a few scenes for the explanation. YoungPC's comment on Ando's death: "Nice fall."
    * Awesome line: "Your father always said, one of us, one of them. I'm the one of us." Go Sandra. :-)
    * He's going to make Meredith fall in love with him again? Ew. Eric is nasty. Reminds me of Timothy Spall.
    * Daphne can take people with her when she runs? How do Daphne's powers work on Level 5? They can't be completely blunted, because Sylar and others have exhibited their abilities in their cells, but they're still muted enough that Hiro and Peter weren't able to teleport out. How do those cells work?
    * Bad Claire wig these days. Let the character cut her hair to match, please: extensions and wigs always look awful.
    * Claire will be so pissed if HRG passes her over in order to work with Meredith instead...
    * I'm unsure what Mohinder's doing, collecting people... What's he using them for? What's his end game? I liked how Tracy freed herself and Nathan, though. Nice use of the power.

:-)

Well, that was good.  Arthur, like his two sons is a multi-power guy.  Only in his case he steals powers instead of only copying them.  He has telepathy abilities.  He stole Adam's regeneration, resulting in Adam suddenly turning 400 years old (crumbling to dust).  I hope they do something good next week with the showdown between Nathan and Tracy and Mohinder.  And I am sooo happy Hiro didn't kill Ando!  Somebody on this forum totally called the bait and switch play we saw.  Kudos whomever!

And Peter just lost all his powers!  Maybe he can learn to be a real hero now.  Let's hope!

Poor Peter. With Sylar's ability he just started to use his other abilities right and now it all goes out of the window....
I really thought that "knowing how things work" will make him smarter (let's face it, he wasn't the brightest one). I wonder whether he will be able to absorb abilities again. FP could use abilities, but FP didn't warn present Peter of his father, so it could be the whole different future.....
Although current Peter's state could explain how he actually got the scar.

wow, it's been really long since i actually an episode (if not full, at least some scenes) so exciting! i won't go through many details. i think i realized the real ability of Mr. Petrelli:D my guess is that when he touches someone he absorves his powers, that's why Adam died whereas Peter only lost his abilities.. Question? did he lose his main ability along the copied ones, or only the last ones? the Hiro - Ando story was just so predictable and completely useless from my point of view. i loved everything about the Puppet Man and the three gals around him, Claire was so hot!! I'm glad Adam is gone, he was s*xy but boring as well.. xixi did you notice Mat's crush on Δαφνη? so cute and honest.. so, Hiro is afraid of turning back time? that would definetely explain many of his actions, as why he didn't rewind time before the formula was stolen in the first place. i loved loved loved how Δαφνη (greek name dudes)managed her speed during encountering dr. Suresh. i found the fact that Stacy finally used her power on comand in order to free herself and Nathan from our formerly beloved doctor. It was refreshing not seeing Maya for an episode.. gamme time to breath..
And our Syler again prisoned? ouf, damned Peter it's not everything about you! And the last scene.. omg! amazing! i like the actor that represents Arthur, there's an evil quality about him.

amazing episode, really restored my faith in "Heroes"!

to be honest, I actually liked the episode from last week a little better as a whole, but there were big things I liked about this episode that I think really makes it great.

Likes:

The puppet man scene was excellent.  That whole character was great, and I loved that he had nothing to do with the overall story arc or mythology of heroes.  WE could take a break from the convaluted storyline of viruses and formulas and just enjoy our heroes and family dealing with a villan.  It reminded me of the Monster of the Week episodes of the X files.  The X Files had great mythology, but it was nice to have a little break from it every now and then, and I think the puppet man scenes really gave that to us!

I love that Hiro is back to being Hiro!  For a while there, I was really starting to tire of him because he didn't have that comic relief that we love about him...no YATTA or I Did It at all this season, but last night he was finally back to being what we've all come to love about him.  Him and ando were silly and cheeky and funny, and that's the Hiro we all love.  Their whole trying to capture the precog was just hilarious!  everything about it was great!  From the "That's racist" to "Mista african Issac" it was just brilliant and it restored my hope and faith in the Hiro-Ando characters.

I'm glad parkman is back in action.  Parkman is the last ray of moral light in the show and I hope they keep him that way!  Parkman is the dudley do right of Heroes, and It's nice to see him back with the rest of the people ready to do good...they've really needed to lighten things up, and I'm glad that he's back to give us a little hope.

I love Sylar!  I know people disagree, but I love that he's been walking this fine line between hero and insane killer...I love it!  It's just beautifully executed by Zach, and I love that Peter and Sylar are switching roles!  It's great to see Sylar because he's trying to do good and he means it, but you know that at any minute he could just snap and go right back to where he was!  It's fantastic and I love it!

We didn't have to see maya this episode, which was just great. Period.

Lastly, Papa Petrelli...he is the ultimate nemesis!  He's brilliant!  Robert Forrester is such an amazing addition to the show, and I really hope they try to keep him around for a while.  he is a perfect villan leader, an iconic mastermind, reminescient of a Magneto or Kingpin.  He's incredibly powerful, manipulative, smart, capable, ruthless, and yet you can tell he still has this quality that he honestly believes that what he's doing is for some kind of greater good, even it's consequences are dire!  and we can see all of that from like 2 minutes of screen time!  He is seriously the best addition to the show and I really hope that they keep him around as long as absolutely possible!

Dislikes

There aren't many, but just a few little things that I didn't like about this episode.

I'm over mohinder, completely.  I want him dead and out of the cast.  His whole story arc is just retarded.  This isn't animorphs, this isn't Spiderman 3, stop with the monster creation... and look, you're either a monster, or a hero, you can't be both.  mohinder still keeps up this "O, i'm just trying to do research and I mean well and I want to help people" blah blah blah and then outta nowhere just flips it and starts cocooning people and has fits of rage...whatever.  It's not believable and not captivating and whenever I rewatch it on dvr, i fast forward the mohinder scenes.  I'm over him.  done.

Peter...just stop.  Take a breather and think about you're character.  Its just dumb.  He's a cat loving little girl.  Someone said it before, but peter has no right to complain about his new power.  you asked for it, and you begged for it, hell you even told him you would take it from him by force.  he gave it to you reluctantly and then apologized for it afterwards, even saying he would never wish it on anyone!  Get over yourself peter...God he is just such an idiot...everything about him he's just retarded.  he never thinks things through or ever uses common sense...ever and it drives me nuts!  He deserves to have his powers taken away and deserves to be locked up for a while!  He annoyed me so much this episode!  More than usual!

anyways, that's my review...keep doin it Heroes!  You guys are just killin it with your episodes, and our heroes parties have never been so intense!  thanks!
