*Even faced with overwhelming evidence, I still have to wonder about Adam.   Unless you can chalk it up to sloppy writing, why would Kaito Nakamura say what he did when he died?  His exact quote was:  "Out of all of them, I never expected it to be you. "  Now, honestly, let's look at it this way. . .   You signed an order locking a crazy man up for life; you threw away the key.   Years later you get a picture of yourself with HIS symbol on it. . .   You know it means you're going to die, who is the first person you think of?  If it were me, I'd be trying to figure out how the crazy man escaped.   How would a reasonably intelligent person NOT expect the killer to be the crazy man he locked up for 30 years?  You really don't think that if he breaks out, he wouldn't want revenge?  That quote is killing me and I'm sure I'm overanalyzing it. . .  but really, that's sloppy writing and a sad excuse if Adam is truly evil.   Another thing that's bothering me are Adam's mannerisms when Hiro watches him kill Kaito.   Running his hand along the wall, the twisted look on Adam's face when he fell over the wall. . .  even my husband looked at me and said "That looks weird. . .  Is he being possessed?"  I wonder if the Nightmare Man is as gone as we might think.

My guess is that Adam used others to do his dirty work, rather than getting directly involved.  So, I think Kaito might have been surprised that Adam would take him out personally.  But, given that Kaito personally signed the incarceration order, it may have been poetic justice in Adam's mind.

b/c moninder was going to meet niki and now he won't b/c he will be two worried to go after slyer to get molly back safe and sound that he will forget all about her. She will die she won't be there to meet moninder either b/c she will have gone to help micah out with getting monica back.

Peter and Adam's road trip to Victoria's cabin was great, with Joanna Cassidy as Victoria. Remember her as Christina Applegate's boss in Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead? I liked her brief stint in this episode, and am sorry we won't see any more of her. Peter seems about as gullible as Mohinder at this point, believing everything Adam tells him, and even falling for Adam's obvious ploy to feasibly kill Victoria. Waaaay too trusting, buddy boy. I hope you're appropriately galant, self-sacrificing, and apologetic when you figure things out.

So... I have to admit to writing some fanfiction about Heroes. The Sylar/Maya/Alejandro storyline in particular. (You can find it here, but please still respect me in the morning.) I wrote it after 2x06 The Line aired and finished it way before this episode did, and I just have to say--I was geeking out at how their storyline tiptoed along the way my alternate version had progressed. As weird a plot device as the picnic was, they needed to do something with these three, and they needed to wrap it up fast, with only two episodes to go before the writer's strike went into full effect and prematurely ended their season. I liked that Sylar purposefully made Maya angry and gambled his life to push her into controlling her own ability (hell, I wrote it first), but I didn't like the filming of it (it looked sloppy), and I know Zachary Quinto could have turned in a better performance than we ended up with. The writing and dialogue was great, though.

My favorite scene of the episode was when Sylar joined Maya and Alejandro in their motel room and they confronted him with the clipping of his mother's murder. From the minute he walked in the door the scene was fabulous--I loved how Sylar could tell immediately that things were going down, and the way he slowly swung the door shut without breaking eye contact with Alejandro was great. Dania's delivery of "This says... this says you murdered your mother," was absolutely perfect, and I liked the explanation Sylar gave. I'm sure he even believed what he told them was actually what happened--I don't think he blames himself for his mother's death. Zachary's tearful delivery was wonderful, and apparently Maya thought so too, because after that she was more than willing to walk away from her brother and follow Sylar anywhere he wanted to go. Not that I blame her. He's done a masterful job of coming between the twins at this point, and the best moment was the shot of Sylar with a tiny evil smile, not understanding their conversation in Spanish but still knowing he'd won. So chilling as he comforts her, satisfied with his work, and dragging a threatening finger across the back of her head... Love it.

Poor Alejandro. As much as I disliked Shalim Ortiz's treatment of the character, I felt really bad for the dude, watching his impressionable sister get roped in by a slimy guy she barely knew... and then said slimy guy ends up stabbing him to death! Nothing but sympathy for you, man. That sucks. Still... glad you're gone.

Hated Dana Davis' delivery of the line "That's why Clark Kent wears those glasses!" Good lord, Monica, you're obnoxious. And her attempt to get Micah's bag back was pretty pathetic, too. Hang out a back window! Run out the back door! Don't suspend yourself in plain sight with nowhere to run and drop things on the guys with guns!

I loved Elle's oh-no-she-saw-me fumbling with her slurpee, sling, and car keys as Claire stalks over to her car. Very funny. But Claire's threats to take information on the company public was unscary, and how would her unmasking her own ability put the Company on the run? Makes no sense. Pretty cute, though, the pint-size blondes facing off. Would've been cooler if Elle had attempted some fireworks against Claire, though.

I loved Mohinder's reaction to Sylar tracking him down on his cell phone. You just know he was panicking. And what kind of babysitter lets a random dude and chick she doesn't know take over for the night? She shouldn't have even opened the door to them! Nice touch, though, Sylar threatening Molly and Mohinder over the phone while never saying anything overtly evil--malleable little Maya never suspected a thing.

Very cool ending to the episode! Can't wait to see a battle between Peter, Hiro, and Adam!

Bits and Pieces:

    * Love that Sandra Bennet had a gun on Bob the entire time he was in their house.
    * Still loving Elle's relationship with her father. I feel bad for her and at the same time love that she's so unashamedly nasty.
    * Felt bad for HRG, strapped to the gurney, unable to tell his family he's alive. Poor guy, owing his life to the company and still wanting to bring it to its knees.
    * Funny line: "Ando... you're like a hamster making a nest."
    * Badly cast Young!Kaito and Young!Victoria. Badly done on both counts.
    * Go Micah! And kudos to Noah Gray Cabey on that punch--the little fight scene was great. I love this kid--he's one of the best actors on the show.
    * Zachary Quinto can look soooo creepy as he smiles, post-kill.
    * Dania's performance is usually impressive, but I didn't like her floppy, non-verbal lips before she says "...and so much more," and kisses Sylar. Kind of looked like a horse. But all is forgiven as we get the cool camera pan to show Sylar easing the door shut on Alejandro's bloody body on the motel room floor.
    * I really liked Claire's childish, indestructo-girl solution to the pain of losing her father: contact the Haitian and have him erase her memory of him. Poor girl.

I really like this entire review but I wanted to point out a couple of things.

I am so glad that you think Dania is great! Maya was my favorite character for the longest time and just....thanks!

Alos, I LOOOOVED that Elle bit, too. One of my two fave Elle moments!

Awesome.
