Speculation time! How do you think The Dark Knight will end? Better yet, how do you want it to end? I suspect Joker will "die", save for the very last moment before the credits, and that's it. It seems logical, as it leaves open the villain role for anyone in the third installment. Now then, being the Quinn-whore that I am (probably my favorite DC character, ever), I would like the ending to feature Joker in Arkham, speaking to his psychologist (Harleen Quinzel).
The obvious issue with Harley Quinn (which is probably why she won't be in TDK) is that she brings comic relief. These new films seem to be a lot more serious. I mean sure, the Joker is in TDK. However, the whole joke is that he isn't as funny as he thinks he is, whereas Harley IS funny. Warner Bros. tried making HQ serious once before (Birds of Prey, anyone?), and it failed miserably. I want Harley Quinn in this film franchise (preferably Brittany Murphy cast), but if they seriously want to stick with the serious approach, then forget about it. No Batman fan wants a serious Harley Quinn.
