Wonderful initial scene at Mohinder's apartment with Sylar, Maya and Molly. I'd been waiting for Sylar's true colors to come shining through! And Mohinder's face was priceless as he tried to figure out this polite, twighlight zone version of Sylar. Leave it Maya, though, she can be trusted to let the cat out of the bag and reveal Sylar's powerless. Good job, sweetie. Everyone's response to Maya's pseudo-meltdown was good, especially Zachary's. He did a great job as a desperate Sylar, and it's interesting to see him reduced to wielding a gun and not just using his offensive abilities.
The part I don't understand is who injected Sylar with the virus? The Company? Was Michelle working for Bob when she took Sylar on their jungle vacation and nursed him back to health? Why would the Company even bother saving him, just to take away his powers and have the virus eventually kill him? To experiement on him? Why not bring him to a more secure Company facility to do that?
Awesome first scuffle between Peter and Hiro. And it just gets better! I loved the flying guards as Adam and Peter storm their way into the bowels of Primatech. But even with his new cynical outlook on life, I just can't believe Peter would be okay with Adam hacking the guards up with a sword! And the Star Wars show down between Peter with his Vader grip on Hiro and Matt with his Jedi-mind-trick was cool, if a little unspectacular. I liked the explosion at the end of the last finale. (Even though, yes, the last finale was about as thin and felt as rushed as this one.)
I loved the iconic shot of HRG from behind as he talks to Elle, describing what her father put her through as a child. Poor girl. No wonder she goes off half-cocked and desperate to prove herself when she finds out where Sylar is. And you can't help but feel good for her when Mohinder thanks her for saving their lives.
Funniest moment all season: Nathan and Matt landing at Primatech. "We don't talk about 'that'...ever again!" So glad that they're there with Hiro, too. A finale with reunions is always cool.
I liked the way Sylar rolled his eyes as Maya screamed accusations at him before he shot her. Dania could have taken the hit a little better, but I like that they killed her and brought her back to prove a point. The rest of the scene is fantastic, especially Zachary's delivery of "You and I have trust issues, Doctor."
Bits and Pieces:
* Nice question: "How long must the next generation suffer for the sins of the previous generation?" I think Al Gore has a patent on that question, actually... * Why does the super-secret Company laboratory in Isaac's apartment have two walls of windows with the blinds open? Does this loft not have any neighbors in the entire building? * Not the correct way to draw blood, Mohinder. * So HRG has left his family? For good? * Love where Hiro ended up putting Adam. I assume this means he's not coming back for the third season? * As much as Niki was starting to bore me, I wish we still had her and Monica had been the one to blow up. Based on the previews for season three, it looks like we've still got someone in Niki's body... just not Niki. Can't wait to see where this goes! * My guess? HRG shot Nathan. He was willing to walk away from his family to keep Claire from going public, I'm sure at this point he wouldn't have any qualms about killing Nathan to keep his mouth shut, too. If he was ordered to do it by the Company....? * Ooh, Sylar's back! Exciting! Very exciting! I love the Sylar theme music. Very cool.
