An Abrupt End?
According to TVGuide.com, season two of Heroes might be in danger of ending early. Due to the prelude of what could be a writers strike, the Heroes crew will be filming an alternate ending for the mid-season episode, airing on December 3rd. If an agreement isn't made soon, the new ending will likely air, and the season will come to an abrupt end.

Quote from: TVGuide.com
Sources confirm that the show is going back and shooting an alternate ending to the Dec. 3 episode that, if used, would allow the episode to function as a season finale in the event of a strike. Originally, the episode was only supposed to serve as the conclusion of the current "Generations" arc. Should an 11th-hour agreement be reached and a strike averted (fingers crossed!), the alt ending would likely be scrapped.

On the bright side... I can then go about writing my Heroes story with no worries of contradicting the main Heroes storyline as there won't be any to contradict... but then again, it's a very small bright side.

It pains me to say this, but the writers strike has started. In other words, time is of the essence, and if things aren't settled soon, season two of Heroes will end on December 3rd.

Update: According to various reports, none of the Heroes writers are among the rather large picket lines. This doesn't necessarily mean they're NOT on strike, but it does seem odd, considering Fox and Warner Bros. make up quite a bit of the line. Sadly, as long as writers within Universal are striking, I don't think we'll see new episodes of Heroes (past December 3rd) until this gets resolved).

They have about a month to come to an agreement. Thank goodness for mid-season breaks. Hopefully a deal will be made, and the cast and crew can get back to work over the break.

The WGA (Writers Guild of America) wants to see some of the profit from "new media". Basically, they want to get paid with some of the money made through advertisements during online videos (example: Nissan ads during online episodes of Heroes). They also want an increase of 4 cents to 8 cents from DVD sales.

Honestly, I think the networks should give them what they want. Especially with such a high-profile show like Heroes on the verge of ending with only half a season. What the WGA want isn't unreasonable. They want to get paid for their work, and it's not happening.

LOL - But then we'll get rubbish episodes that will have whole episodes dedicated to annoying characters like West, or riddiculous situations like Peter is about to destroy the Virus when his Precognition Powers kick in and he starts painting the Future -.-

It could be worst Hellish...they might have Mohinder-Centric Two Parters like in Lost.
- Wouldn't that be Vile?

The latest update is that both sides are too bitter over the situation to even go back into talks. Many are saying this will be a long strike. In other words, the half-season finish of Heroes appears to be imminent.

Well fellow Heroes fans, the situation is looking worse. While Heroes hasn't officially been cut-off, one show has. The show 24 has been canceled entirely for this season. This is the first show to be completely removed. Additionally, The Office has stopped filming because Steve Carell (a WGA member) refuses to cross the picket lines.

If we're only three days in, and shows are being dropped, what does this mean for Heroes?

volume 2 is definitely ending with episode 11.  if the writer strike continues than season 2 will end with episode 11 as well.  however, after the writer strike is over i think that volume 3 will start back up (probably a couple months after the strike is over).  i think depending on how long the strike lasts will determine whether volume 3 is part of season 2 or season 3.
