I know it has something to do with mirrors and her reflection, but what is its purpose?

All I have heard about her is that she has an "alter-ego" although with super heroes usually it isn't as sinister as it has been made out to be for her. As near as I can tell there is a scene where she wakes up and two loan sharks that were trying to get her to pay up are dead, and when she looks in the mirror her reflection holds her finger to her lips telling her to be quiet. This doesn't seem like the act of a super-hero to me.

I'm confused to. It doesn't seem like it is something she has control of. Does it only appear when she is threatened- like with the principal or is it associated with anger?

Is she kind of like the Hulk, only not so bad ass? I'm not sure if her "ability" really makes her one of the good guys or not.

i agree...her super 'ability' was actually a little disturbing for me.  who wants to wake up and have dead bodies everywhere?!  doesn't really sound like hero behavior...oh well, hopefully we'll have more answers once she watches that videotape...

Oooo, I forgot about the camera. I wonder what that will reveal, good point xcessev missed that entirely. Maybe we'll get a peak next week.

She will probably be the villian of the series.  But she will probably look deep inside herself and tame the beast.

BWAHAHA! Someone else watched "Who wants to be a Superhero?" aparently Smiley

Okay, my little theory on Nikki's powers:

Nikki's powers are an extension of her own personality. I don't know any strippers personally, but I've seen them on TV (hehe) but it would seem to me that, in order to give of yourself and your body in that way, you'd almost have to shut off a part of yourself in order to do it, at least when you'd first start out.

I've got a half-formed theory that ALL the heroes powers are an extension of themselves, and Nikki's was the first one I came to.

In order to protect her and her son, she has to do some terrible things. Maybe her "alter ego" is just that shut-off part of her brain acting in a way that it needs to in order to survive, and her memory blanks are also a way that the alter ego is protecting Nikki, so she doesn't have the memory of doing these terrible things.

Her alter ego may not have any exlempary (I know I spelled that one wrong) powers, except for the fact that it knows what has to be done, and knows how to acomplish some terrible tasks. For instance: in cases of extreame fear, adrenaline pops in and a person is able to acomplish tasks they would otherwise be unable to do: pull someone out of a burning building that would otherwise be too heavy, run further or faster than one would normally be able to do, etc.

All Nikki's alter ego is doing is tapping into that "Fight or Flight" reflex and pulling it up fully whenever Nikki needs it.

If Nikki could learn to pull in that power, she could potentially be quite formidible.

Is she evil? I don't think she would be if she could learn to harness her power. Everything she's done has been for self-preservation, not for spite or evil.

Could she become evil? Possibly. If she starts pulling the whole "Dawn from BtVS" pitty party of "Oh, I'm the Key, I'm capable of evil acts, therefore I must be evil" BS, then she could <cough> succumb to the dark side, because she doesn't see herself fitting in with the good guys. But eh, call me a sap, but I'd like to see her be good, because if she's good, and her hubby/boyfriend/whatever is bad, it could cause some fun conflict.

Hello, I'm Deia, I'm new, and I'm long-winded Smiley

I'm pretty sure that Nikki's power is super-strength, and her alter-ego is her way of coping with her power.  She either doesn't have the mental strength do deal with it, or just wouldn't know how to handle it.  So she developed her alternate self to hold the power, so she didn't have to, even though she didn't know she had it.  Her alter-ego seems to release all the anger she keeps built up inside, which is something she's pretty good at keeping inside.
So, basicly, she's a tough chick with mental problems.
