I have to agree...Heroes don't take lives...they save lives!!
BWAHAHA! Someone else watched "Who wants to be a Superhero?" aparently

Okay, my little theory on Nikki's powers:
Nikki's powers are an extension of her own personality. I don't know any strippers personally, but I've seen them on TV (hehe) but it would seem to me that, in order to give of yourself and your body in that way, you'd almost have to shut off a part of yourself in order to do it, at least when you'd first start out.
I've got a half-formed theory that ALL the heroes powers are an extension of themselves, and Nikki's was the first one I came to.
In order to protect her and her son, she has to do some terrible things. Maybe her "alter ego" is just that shut-off part of her brain acting in a way that it needs to in order to survive, and her memory blanks are also a way that the alter ego is protecting Nikki, so she doesn't have the memory of doing these terrible things.
Her alter ego may not have any exlempary (I know I spelled that one wrong) powers, except for the fact that it knows what has to be done, and knows how to acomplish some terrible tasks. For instance: in cases of extreame fear, adrenaline pops in and a person is able to acomplish tasks they would otherwise be unable to do: pull someone out of a burning building that would otherwise be too heavy, run further or faster than one would normally be able to do, etc.
All Nikki's alter ego is doing is tapping into that "Fight or Flight" reflex and pulling it up fully whenever Nikki needs it.
If Nikki could learn to pull in that power, she could potentially be quite formidible.
Is she evil? I don't think she would be if she could learn to harness her power. Everything she's done has been for self-preservation, not for spite or evil.
Could she become evil? Possibly. If she starts pulling the whole "Dawn from BtVS" pitty party of "Oh, I'm the Key, I'm capable of evil acts, therefore I must be evil" BS, then she could <cough> succumb to the dark side, because she doesn't see herself fitting in with the good guys. But eh, call me a sap, but I'd like to see her be good, because if she's good, and her hubby/boyfriend/whatever is bad, it could cause some fun conflict.
Hello, I'm Deia, I'm new, and I'm long-winded
