I haven't really paid much attention to Mohinder's change in accent; it all sounds like an Indian accent to me.  Undecided

(I thought this forum was discussing Mohinder's accent, so what's with the bullying each other?  Huh)

they probably added the Indian accent. Sendhil was born in America and traveled with London's Royal Shakespeare Company. But if he had been born in India, most foreigners lose their accent fairly quickly when they come to the U. S., so his accent probably would waver between Indian and English.

(Hellish Gnome, although it was quite funny reading the posts, I promise I will NEVER make fun of ur squeaky voice. Wink)

actually, most foreigners never lose there accent.  it gets better and not very noticeable very quickly, but most people continue to have their native accent their entire life (unless they went to that country while they were still very young).  like the other day i was talking to a lady that had lived in the US for 16 years, had lived in Brazil for 12 years before that, and lived the first 24 years of her life in Uruguay.    we spoke mostly in portuguese, which she spoke with a uruguayan accent.  we spoke a little bit of english, but her english was a bit difficult to understand, even though she has lived here for 16 years.

i do see ur point. i guess some do and some don't. my school got foreign exchanges and most of them almost entirely lost their accent in the 10 months they were here. actually, one did. he was Chinese.

yeah, and that is definitely more likely to happen.  teenagers and children pick up the accent of the place where they are living pretty quickly, but adults tend to keep their native accent throughout their lives.

There's kind of a "learning window" which starts to cut off at around 35-40 which makes it harder for older people to learn new things. "You can't teach an old dog new tricks" as they say.

i agree mohinder had a different accent in the pilot as compared to the rest of the season 1 epis. . . . . but i think it was fairly consistent for the rest of the season.  Its sort of a british accent with an indian touch.  Well anyways. . . i hardly have trouble understading him so i have no issues with his accent. . . and i love his character!
