Over a month ago I said there would be some controversy over who makes the POWER 10. Here we are, starting back up with the final 5 episodes, and this will be just as controversial. I typed out the names of every character who was featured in this episode on a blank Notepad file. I then began to cut down the list. When I was 'finished', I saw a huge problem. There were 11 people left. The sad part is, I can't narrow it down to a battle between two characters. There are a few that could either make it to a decent spot on the list, or not be on the list at all. Once that was decided, the extremely hard part came. Fitting the characters into the correct spots. I'd love to get your opinions on what you think of the POWER 10. Feel free to criticize. Debate and sharing opinions is definitely appreciated. So without further hesitation, I bring you the POWER 10 for this week. Keep in mind that the text for the Bottom 5 is a lot less than that of the Top 5. I simply can't come up with enough to discuss with the Bottom 5.

He had a brief moment of heroism, and then he died. Sylar has both killed and defeated/escaped Peter twice now. Tack on the short time on-screen, and you have your #10 spot. There's not much else to say.

He's learning to use his ability in a variety of ways. He's also learning to be a team player. More character development would've been nice, but I can't fault anyone, due to the show being one hour. The effects used for his EMP blast was cool though.

His telepathy was extremely usefull this week. However, the escape was all Bennet. Parkman's big moment came when he revealed that Linderman was the boss at Primatech. While this was a big deal, it was overshadowed by the fact that Mr. Bennet already knew Linderman was involved, to a certain extent.

He appears to be focussed on the election. That's a good thing. It may mean shutting out his family for a week, but its for the best. I'd rather see Nathan handle himself this way. We don't need another Mr. Bennet. I also liked that he's willing to listen to Linderman, but remains extremely cautious. He's not anyone's puppet.

The mastermind takes a tumble. From first to sixth in the blink of an eye. Its not that she did anything stupid. Angela just didn't get a lot of face time. Despite that, she made the most of it. Apparently she was once in Claire's position. What does that mean? Does she have a power? Was she in the same group of heroes as Linderman? Just when you think you have the answers, Angela changes the questions. Its no longer about how she knows Claire. Its about how she knows exactly what to do in these nearly impossible situations. She's too aware not to know a lot more than she has everyone believing.

Just barely making it into the Top 5 is Mr. Bennet. With Hana being unable to contact Matt and Ted, Bennet took the role of leader. He may have been "middle-management" within Primatech, but he clearly paid more attention than his superiors. Using Parkman's powers to his advantage, Bennet came up with a brilliant escape plan. The three main people in captivity are now on the loose and heading for New York. He sacrificed his mind and body for his daughter. He played the fence for a long time. And now he has outsmarted his former employer (as far as we know), and has two new allies (excluding Hana). Is there anything Mr. Bennet can't do? You don't need to be an evolved human to be a hero, and Bennet shows us yet again.

In what was the biggest leap in the POWER 10, Isaac Mendez goes from the brink of disappearing to the Top 5, and rightfully so. Many of us expected this to happen. Isaac knew it was going to happen. The difference is in HOW it happened. I originally thought that Isaac was going to be caught off-guard. Instead, Isaac is ready and willing to die so that Sylar can use his ability. So much so that he even informed Sylar that he was late. What placed Isaac at the #4 spot (as opposed to the Top 3) is the fact that he wasn't on screen very much. Not only that, but it wasn't until his second scene that the 'end' of his sub-arc came. Despite that, Isaac told Sylar what is essentially the key to this entire Season 1 arc. You can't escape the future. In other words, what has been forseen will happen, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. It's just a shame that Hiro didn't get to hear that.

The battle for third place is nearly as important as the battle for first place this week. Both Isaac and Candice's actions will alter the future of this series in a big way. Isaac's willingness to give his life to hopefully change Sylar may stretch out into Season 2. However, what Candice did is more important right now. Jessica got duped, plain and simple. She made it sound like there would be massive bloodshed if Linderman attempted to get ahold of Micah. I'm sure many of us believed there would be some sort of fight between Linderman's front line and Niki/Jessica. We were wrong. Proving that efficiency is key, Candice made herself out to be Niki Sanders. Being unable to tell any sort of difference, Micah was lured right into the trap. I'm sure Micah still doesn't have a clue that his mom is NOT behind this. Nevertheless, because of Candice's actions, it appears that the broken voting system may be fixed, and Nathan Petrelli will win his respective election. Oh...and they updated the visuals for when she uses her powers.

Poor Sylar. He was so close to reaching the top spot. I knew I wasn't going to drop him down, but he didn't bring enough to the table this week to rise to the top. What he did bring, however, was his intelligence. Just when you thought Sylar was done for or outsmarted, he got the job done. Peter turning invisible? No problem. Just shoot shards of glass in every direction. Even if it was temporary, it is very important to note that Sylar killed Peter. For those keeping score at home, that makes Sylar 2/2, considering Peter "died" at the end of their first altercation. Also in this part of the story, Sylar gains Isaac's ability. He is last seen painting a more abstract and distorted version of the 'President Nathan'. What Sylar learns from what has happened may change his character significantly. I wouldn't be surprised if he now knows how to effectively kill those with powers (stab through the top of the spinal cord), and his own future for that matter.

As smart as Sylar was this week, Linderman was clearly smarter. The guy has been running Primatech for so long, and it took Mr. Bennet this long to realize it? Not only that, but Bennet had to be told by a guy who knows nothing about the organization. Oh, and Linderman has the ability to heal. Furthermore, he once worked within a team of heroes. Add on the fact that Linderman had a backup plan for the failed (rigged) voting system (using Micah), and you have all the ingredients for making the top spot. Even when Linderman was off-screen, his presence was felt. After all, nearly everything revolves around him.
